Equity and diversity activity at the University is widespread and is entrenched within learning and teaching, student support programs, research and community engagement activities. Our goal is to improve the participation of students and staff from educationally, financially or socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Melbourne Students and Learning leads is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and policies for student and staff equity, including the attainment of the Commonwealth participation targets for undergraduate and graduate students, and staff.

As the portfolio leader, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Equity and Student Engagement) oversees strategies for attracting and retaining low SES students, including, a range of outreach programs, the Access Melbourne Scholarships Program, the Lin Martin Melbourne Global Scholarship, and the Equity Innovation Grants Program.
